Hello and welcome!

Our Story

We’re Kevin & Lindy Cox...and we love traveling!

As 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatchers, we're all about helping people in need—it's in our nature. But when we're not at work, what really makes our hearts sing is exploring the world and living our best lives through travel. That's why we created Take 2 Adventures. We want to help everyone experience a lifetime of adventure through travel, and not settle for a once-in-a-lifetime vacation.

We discovered a love for traveling together while on our honeymoon in the Canary Islands in 2018, and we haven't stopped traveling since! During our adventures, we discovered that you can plan amazing, breathtaking trips without breaking the bank. Does it take some sacrifice between trips? Sure. But the last thing we want in life is to wait for "someday" to be able to explore the world...then have "someday" never arrive.

So we've dedicated ourselves to the search for affordable travel. We often fly economy but have learned how to make those tiny seats as comfortable as possible. We put in the extra time to research accommodations, and as a result end up with beautiful places to stay for a fraction of the price. We look for expeditions/activities that show us the local flavor of wherever we're traveling and do so without dropping a ton of money.

The way we travel doesn't involve cruises or all-inclusive resorts. We gravitate more towards staying in self-catered houses or apartments that give us the freedom to go where we want, when we want. We don't go for the "canned" holiday. Instead we focus on experiences that immerse us in the culture we're visiting. So if you're looking for the all-inclusive trip, this probably isn't the place for you.

But if you want to learn more about how to travel to amazing places on a budget and then truly experience the culture once you get there...we're your people.

We firmly believe that you don't have to wait to take the adventure of a lifetime...if you do it right, you can absolutely have a lifetime of adventure starting now. And we'd love to show you how.

About Lindy

I grew up in a family that put an immense amount of value on adventure. As in...my parents chose where to live by laying down a map of Oregon and plotting out where they could access hiking, skiing, rafting, fishing, and hunting within 30 miles of home. I learned to walk in a high mountain lake meadow while on a horse packing trip. Most of my childhood, we lived in a small house built in the 1950's and drove used cars because instead of buying material things, we spent our money on the next adventure. It was amazing. That drive for adventure also extended to traveling, so I was no stranger to going abroad even before I met Kevin (I'd racked up at least eight countries before graduating from college). It wasn't until he came into my life, however, that I found my perfect travel partner, someone who is as passionate about experiencing the world as I am. While my family instilled the love for travel and adventure in me, Kevin launched it into a way of life that I wouldn't change for anything.

About Kevin

Unlike Lindy, I most definitely did not grow up traveling- as in I had stayed in a hotel exactly one time until I was a high school senior and joined the speech team.  Our family did not put any emphasis on travel, vacation, or relaxation.  Heck, I was never out of Oregon or Washington until I was in my 20’s.  We would venture to southern Oregon every couple months to visit relatives, and to the Oregon Coast a couple times a year, but that was it; even then we never ventured outside of a 25 mile stretch of the coast.  Growing up I was always told “you get a better view of things on TV than in person” (spoiler alert: NOTHING could be further from the truth).
When my kids were young, their mom and I took them on a couple road trips- a week or two of driving and exploring different states.  I found that I really enjoyed experiencing places I had only read about or seen on TV.  But at the time, I had no interest in anything beyond that.  Fast forward to 2018 and Lindy and I were planning our honeymoon.  I finally had a passport by then, and we decided we really wanted to go somewhere outside of the US, and by dumb luck Lindy found a travel blog about the Canary Islands of Spain.  By about 4 days into our trip, I think we were both bitten hard by the travel bug- and we haven’t looked back since.
